Calling Fellow Alumni to support our students and staff throughout the 2024-2025 School Year!

Congratulations!
Demascus Murray, Class of 2025, one of Douglass’ College Bound Scholars, was featured on Fox45 Sunday morning news. In addition to a strong college prep track, Demascus plays Varsity Football for the school, is a battalion commander of JROTC, and Sergeant of Arms for the SGA. Douglass also featured student Malver Canales on the school’s Facebook page as he was interviewed when notified that he will be receiving a full scholarship for the upcoming school year from McDaniel College. Malver is the first generation in his family to attend college.

Request for Donations
Do you have any gently used shoes that still have some life in them? Please consider donating them to JROTC. The Citywide JROTC program is collecting gently used shoes for distribution to individuals in need in the US and abroad. Please turn in donations to LTC Giannola by Monday, May 19th. Kudos to the Class of '71 - They did an amazing job soliciting donations for the students. They ran a successful campaign that yielded clothing and supplies for needy DHS students.

Amazing!
Douglass community participated in an amazing opportunity to see the Maryland State Supreme Court oral arguments in person at Douglass.

“on the bench”
Laura Schulz, Assistant Principal, shared a very special book that was brought to the school by the Supreme Court and kept “on the bench”. It’s a book that all lawyers sign when they join the Bar in Maryland. She was not sure how far this practice goes, but this volume contained the year 1933. This version is special because it contains a signature from Douglass Alumni, the Late Honorable Thurgood Marshall – pretty cool!!

Congratulations Jamiry & Tanaja, 12th Graders!

First and foremost, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and engagement. Our alumni association is a testament to the strength and spirit of your support and contributions which have been invaluable in fostering a vibrant legacy.
Over the past year, we have achieved remarkable milestones in scholarship support, cataloging and moving the alumni office, and creating strong relationships among the alumni. These accomplishments would not have been possible without your dedication and enthusiasm. As we look ahead, we are committed to building on this momentum and creating even more meaningful experiences for the students and for our members.
This quarter our newsletter highlights recent events and upcoming opportunities for you to participate in Senior week, Alumni weekend and other volunteer and networking activities.
