Events

One of the paramount goals of the Alumni Association is to sponsor events and activities for the Alumni.  These activities will enhance our school’s environment, perpetuate its legacy of “Pride Dignity and Excellence”, and provide a voice for the alumni and friends of Frederick Douglass High School in City and State government.  Additionally, it is crucial to raise revenue for scholarships and for assisting students in need.  Finally, the Association focuses on providing our Alumni with social and cultural events that will immortalize the Spirit of Frederick Douglass High School. See upcoming and past events and share others with the association to encourage collaborations across members and classes.

ALUMNI Weekend 2019

Alumni Weekend is a Homecoming Experience. It consists of three day events held the first weekend in May each year, designed to celebrate the Alumni, the legacy of Frederick High School, salute individual alumnus, award scholarships to deserving graduating seniors and fellowship with friends.

We encourage Alumni to attend each event and participate in Spirit Week.

FDHS Commencement

Held during the month of June.  The date fluctuates based on the BCPS calendar.  Along with the conferring of diplomas and other festivities during the commencement, the Alumni Oath is taken by the graduates and they officially become Alumni.

The First Day of School – The HFDHSAA Return!

Each year on the first day of school, volunteers from the Association greet the students when they arrive, Welcome the Students, provide uniforms and school supplies for needy students and assist the principal and staff with a variety of tasks.

Holiday Celebration

The second Wednesday in December.  The Association sponsors a Holiday Celebration for Alumni and Friends of the Association.  This is an occasion during which we extend appreciation and thanks for support to all the stakeholders.  Additionally, it is an opportunity to reflect on the year and make projections for the future.
